So Last Century Vintage Market
At long last, we’re delighted to say that So Last Century is returning once again to Beckenham Place Mansion this summer!
On the day there’ll be a stunning, hand picked selection of 30+ of the best vintage traders indoors and outside. Expect to find mid-century decor, lighting, furniture, homeware, vintage posters, prints, antique maps and charts, brocante, salvage, fashion, accessories and much more.
There’ll be delicious street food outside, including gorgeous wood-fired pizza by Van Dough, mouthwatering bao buns and noodles by You Bao, delicious burritos, tacos and quesadillas by Route 66, tasty sausage baguettes by Camper, plus excellent coffee by Beats & Grind and amazing brownies by Slate ‘n’ Crumb. There’ll be an ice cream trike, as well!
In addition, the excellent Basement Bar and Mansion Cafe will also be operating a take-away service.
There’ll be great music too! We’re very excited to welcome The Alvar Treefrogs, a 6-piece band playing their own unique blend of New Orleans sounds! They’ll be playing out on the grass around lunchtime – make sure you catch them!
If the weather is kind, the resident artists may also be setting up an outdoor open studio where you can see their amazing work, some of which will be available to buy, and chat with the artists.
A mini market of fresh produce outside the Mansion every Sunday until 8th November 2020.
The park and borough’s response to Covid-19 necessitates we begin petite, but our aspiration is a weekly selection of produce. We start this Sunday with breads, cheeses, plants, flowers and baked goodies, plus the Mansion’s cafe and bar menus ~ with hot & cold drinks, beer, wine, salads & wraps!
So, if you’re up for a feel-good shop, don’t forget a canvas tote on your Sunday morning stroll. Perfect for a run around after with the kids and pooches.
Please travel smartly, by foot/bike if possible. Card payments only.
The 285m-long Beckenham Place Park wild swimming lake, which reaches 3.5m deep in some parts, it's not a completely new addition to the landscape. There was a lake on the site as far back as the 1700s, although it was filled in and used as a golf course — which was controversially closed to make way for the lake again.
We are Reopening!
Tickets will be available online from Saturday 11th July 2020 at 9am
We will be open; Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays 7am to 3pm.
Situated at the mansion in Beckenham Place Park is a superb record store that is packed with crates and crates of vinyl in every genre you can think of.
It’s a great place to browse and there’s so much variety in the stock with quite a few foreign pressings and rarities, and records are usually playing in the store on one of the many record decks in there.
The owner, Owen, is such an enthusiast and holds occasional DJ-ing parties in the mansion, using only vinyl. Owen grades and researches valuations for accurate pricing, but he also has a 20% discount on all stock at the moment.
Def worth checking out if you’re visiting the park. It’s on the lower floor next to the cafe.
